I’ve just reached #Lahore from Islamabad and immediately felt an assault of gross smoke. Eyes burning, lungs feeling heavy, coughing. This feels more severe than our familiar (also gross) smog. What’s going on? #LahoreSmog

Lahore is unbearable right now. The smog is impossible to escape.
We destroyed our water resources. Now our air is hazardous. We have turned elements of life into vehicles of death.
Urgent discussion needed on environmental costs of our developmental models. #SmogApocalypse

The cause behind air pollution in Lahore is the crops burning residues in India. The present situation in Lahore is due to smoke being produced by the burning of crops’ residues in India.
According to the NASA report, the cause revealed that the smoke produced by the burning of crops’ residues in India is deteriorating air quality in Lahore.
Efforts to Control Air Pollution in Lahore
The management, the Government and a monitoring committee comprising of different stakeholders had been constituted to control the smog as soon as possible.
This monitoring committee would ensure necessary steps so that the menace of environmental pollution could be controlled with concerted efforts and holistic reforms.
Change in air direction was resulting in the inclusion of an additional quantity of smoke in the air of Lahore and if this situation remained constant then there were strong chances of smog in a fog season.
Residents of Lahore are advised to take precautionary measures or use a face mask to avoid Air pollution or hazardous smog effects.
